The Old Crab of the Beach
As the couples whom
I've married over the many years can attest to, my wedding ceremonies are filled with
feelings, laughter and emotions! No "dry toast" ceremonies from me! And I'm not merely willing to venture
out to a
beach to marry couples, but as a dedicated lover of the coastal lifestyle, I'm
forever hoping to
share the simple passion of a Carolina seacoast wedding experience with anyone
wise enough and brave enough to give up the "have to do's" and instead enjoy the
"want to do's".
I work hard to bring excitement and romance to your once in a lifetime moment!
My ceremonies emphasize spirituality, love, and simple caring.
I am probably the most relaxed, romantic, fun yet spiritual (...and uncomplicated...) wedding minister this side of the Atlantic! I strongly believe that the two of you are very special and unique people, that there have never been, and never will be anyone quite like either of you! I want your wedding to be a celebration of this choice that you together have made...a choice that should be experienced as a spiritual and uniquely human event, grounded in genuine love and genuine emotions. I approach your ceremony in the same way as I approach a drum circle! It's my job to facilitate the spirit of the group (or the couple, in the case of a wedding), and seek to "conduct" your energy towards a goal.
The goal is to love each other!
Most days you'll find us at Sunset Beach riding our beach cruiser bicycles, with me doing my best to give skin cancer specialists some work. My wife and I are beach aficionados, and we strive to bring much more to you than a stiff, business-like relationship, but rather extend an island attitude of love and awe for the sea, and deep love and respect for our fellow humans who share in the spiritual journey of this process we call "life".
I also work hard to keep you excited about the process called a wedding! You are not just another customer to me, but a unique and special couple deserving my best efforts!
Yes, I'll admit it...I'm
a wise (see why) sunburned, grizzly old bald-headed, hairy-faced, hippie beach-geezer..
and from what I've witnessed,
the complete opposite of the standard,
commercial
wedding minister so prevalent today.
(And proud of it!)
I was performing fun, simple, human, and romantic beach weddings before it was cool, and hope to continue until my walker sinks in the sand!
Our Promise To You
We offer relaxed, romantic, and spiritual wedding celebrations, any season of the year, at the dimming of the day or under the noon-day sun, at that special place where the sun greets the morning or says farewell until tomorrow. We will join any two people in marriage, renewal or commitment, (within the bounds of the law), under driving rain, blazing sun, blowing hurricanes, or billowy fog; beside flower beds or hospital beds, in snow drifts or sand dunes, under the watchful gaze of a coastal lighthouse, or the baleful glare of a passing seagull. (Or a future mother-in-law!)
We will be courteous to your family, receptive to your ideas, respectful of your privacy, and accepting of your spiritual needs. We will do this in front of two people or two thousand, planned in advance or done on the spur of the moment. We will work to make this moment be as powerful as your feelings, with words strong enough to last a lifetime!
